International Red Cross and Red Crescent prepare for election violence

National elections in Sudan will be held April 13 through 15, despite boycotting by major political opposition parties.  The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has been preparing for casualties of violent dispersals of protests, especially in Blue Nile, South and West Kordofan, White Nile, Khartoum and all five Darfur states.  Each state will get five first aid stations with thirty volunteer staff apiece.  The stations will operate for three months.

Possible scenarios for which they have prepared include injuries and deaths from protest dispersal to massive displacement.  The Sudanese Red Crescent Society are among the many national partners working on this project (others include groups from Qatar, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Iran and Spain to name some).  See this Dabanga article for more:
