Drinkable water shortages reported in Nyala, South Darfur, El Fasher, North Darfur and also in Kharoutm and Omdurman

The Nyala Water corporation reports that overuse of pumps at fifteen of the city’s eighteen wells broke down from overuse.  The shortage has been going on for more than three weeks now.  And Dabanga reports water not running in residences in El Fasher, as well as in some districts in southern Khartoum.  Prices for barrels of water have gone up in all three areas.

A bridge connecting Omdurman with the capital Khartoum was closed on June 10 by people from Omdurman protesting interuptions of their drinking water supply:

Omdurman is Sudan’s largest city, and Nyala is one of the largest cities in the five state Darfur region.
